Rotary Challe Gaon Ki Aur- Bir Ghaggar – Auspicious beginning 01.07.2022

01 July Adoption of village bir ghaggar – Taking forward the Signature campaign of DG V.P. Kalta of RID 3080- आओ चले गाँव की ओर, President Dr. Sanjay Kalra planned to adopt village Bir Ghaggar of District Panchkula (Population of 12,000 Approx) to make it an ‘’Adarsh Gaon’’. On the very first day of the Rotary Year 2022-2023, Rain Water Harvesting project for Govt. Senior Secondary School building was launched under the able guidance of Ms. Kesni Ananad Arora, Chairperson, HRWA and DG V.P. Kalta RID 3080.

Annapurna Day

Annapurna Day was observed by serving food sponsored by Inner Wheel Chandigarh Midtown and over 200 mothers and Children enjoyed the meals served by them. RCC Bir Ghaghhar was installed with MC Rakesh Kumar being appointed as the President of the RCC. An MOU was signed and exchanged with the RCC president Mr. Rakesh Kumar.

Rotary Awareness Campaign TARA

Rotary awareness campaign TARA was launched at Village Bir Ghaggar in presence of PP J.P. Singh District TARA Chairman by Rotary Chandigarh Midtown. Special health camp for truck and taxi drivers of the village which included eye checkups of 58 people and providing 15 specs complimentary. Dr. Ruchir Kalra RCC Smile Express shared the five golden rules for healthy teeth and the correct method of brushing. PP J P Singh talked about traffic rules, signs, and the importance of awareness to prevent Road accidents which happen to be the single most important cause of death in India. Wearing helmets on two-wheelers is a safety measure and should be implemented. Radium reflectors in beautiful satin rope were tied around the necks of stray cattle to prevent accidents at night coordinated and supported by Dr. Prarthana Kalra. To reduce air pollution due to heavy traffic and an enormous number of vehicles, tree plantation was also done by chief guest PP JP Singh and Sunita ji from RC Nangal Central, Rotarians, and RCC Bir Ghaggar.

Teej celebrations at Village Bir Ghaggar in collaboration with NGO Sambardhini Nyas. Mrs. Savita SHO sector 5 Panchkula was the chief guest and she spoke about the rights of women to a gathering of about 60 village women and girls. Rtn Dr. Manjushree Sharma talked about Reproductive health, Rtn Dr. Sanjay Kalra gave a lecture on dental health care…and Rtn Shuchi talked about mental health to those gathered…a unique way to celebrate the Teej festival.

Swachhta Abhiyan at Bir Ghaggar

Swatchhata Pakhwara was initiated on 09/08/22 from village Bir Ghaggar in collaboration with Councillor Rakesh ji. Mr. Kulbhushan, Mayor of Panchkula graced the occasion as chief guest. Cleaning and the weeding of all the streets were taken up on war footing.

Azadi ka Amrit Utsav at Bir Ghaggar

Rotary Chandigarh Midtown celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Utsav at its adopted village Birghaggar in the company of children, parents, and Staff of the Govt Senior Sec School. President Rtn Dr. Sanjay Kalra was the chief guest and he spoke on the club’s ambition to make this village an Adarsh Gaon.

Poshan maah celebrations at Bir Ghaggar Anganwadi . Rotary Chandigarh Midtown, RCC Bir Ghaggar, and Parivartan Society collaborated to sensitize and educate women and children about Good health and nutrition, general and menstrual hygiene, and the role of education in empowering them through a talk by Rtn. Dr. Rita Kalra. Roasted chana and biscuits, sanitary napkins, and hygiene kits were given to all 25 mothers and 20 children.

Multi Speciality camp at village Bir Ghaggar

Rotary Chandigarh Midtown organized a Multispeciality camp at village Bir Ghaggar as part of the Swasth Survekshan campaign by Govt of India Over 125 people registered for the camp including children, seniors, and women.103 patients were screened for NCD, HT, diabetes, and Anaemia. Eyes screening for Cataract and vision was supported by Grover Eye Hospital.
